YOU Are the PTA!
All parents, caregivers, teachers and staff of PS11 students are automatically members of the PTA.

PTA Mission
  • To create a supportive and enriched educational environment for all students
  • To promote parent participation at the school
  • To provide resources to benefit the school and students

PTA general meetings, usually held on the third Wednesday of every month, are a great way to keep on top of important PS11 news including PTA events, DOE initiatives and school-wide programs.  Regular speakers include Principal Wrighton, PTA executive board members and committee chairs.  Parents are encouraged to get involved, ask questions, voice their opinions and volunteer new ideas for fundraising and community building.   Check the website homepage calendar for up to date meeting schedules.

Parent Teacher Association

Have you ever wondered…

What does the PTA do?

Why is the PTA always raising money?

Where does the money go?

NYC Department of Education mandates that each school have a PTA.  All parents, step-parents, legally appointed guardians, foster parents and persons in parental relation are automatically members of their school’s PTA.

Parent elected Officers of a PTA are responsible for the PTA budget, events and activities. PTAs can support schools by raising funds, hosting parent workshops or meetings, organizing festivals, dances or social events for families, and can help schools connect with parents through updates and volunteer opportunities.

Here are some of the things that the PS11 PTA organizes and/or funds through its fundraising efforts and your support:

  • It Takes A Village Recess Program
  • Kindergarten & 1st Grade Coding S.T.E.M. Program
  • 2nd Grade Violin Program
  • 3rd-5th Grade Mark DeGarma, Alvin Ailey and Dancing Classrooms Programs
  • Saturday Academy
  • Scholar’s Dinner
  • After School Enrichment Program
  • Parent Outreach Program
  • Teacher Appreciation Lunches
  • Purchasing books for classroom libraries for Author/Illustrator Day a.k.a. Book Bash
  • Red Communication Folders
  • Hospitality for School Tours & Monthly General PTA Meetings
  • Book Bash, Family Movie Night, Election Day Bake Sales, Picture Day, Readathon, Spooky Funhouse, Raise 11, Spring Fest, etc.
  • Supplement Teachers out of pocket expenses for annual Curriculum Showcases
  • Provide funding where applicable for gaps in the school budget
