Remote Learning Updates

Final Report Cards

Final report cards, as well as summer learning packets, will be mailed all PS 11 families. Please check your mystudent.nyc account to confirm your address is correct in the system.

Virtual Summer School

For elementary and middle school students who are required or recommended to attend summer school, the program will start one week earlier and will run from Monday, July 6 – Tuesday, August 11. There is no change to the duration or structure of the program. For students with 12-month Individualized Education Plan (IEPs) services, there will be no change to the calendar.

Return to 2020 Survey 

The DOE is working on plans for re-opening school buildings in the 2020-21 school year, and exploring various options based on available guidance from public health experts.  They’ve created a short, anonymous survey (~7 mins.) to help us understand what is most important to you for when we return to school in the fall.  Parents can complete the Return to 2020 Survey here. Below is a summary of the Fall Framework the DOE is using to drive the planning work related to the fall re-opening.  The Chancellor shared this information in a letter to families as well.   

  • Enhanced health measures that ensure that schools and other office buildings are well-equipped to manage the enhanced health requirements that are necessary to protect against COVID-19 infection.    

  • Trauma-informed approaches that focus on focus on the social-emotional needs of students and staff as we re-acclimate to being back in school buildings.  

  • Blended learning options that leverage in-person and remote instruction to support our transition from remote learning and maximize both face-to-face and online instruction.     

  • Working closely with DOHMH to monitor health indicators to ensure that it is safe to return to school buildings and offices on our planned return in September. 

  • Evaluating the rolling/phased approach used by many other countries as they modify schedules, and/or starting groups of students in person at different times to return to schools gradually rather than all at once.   

  • Considering how to implement social distancing, which may mean limiting the number of students and staff in our buildings and thinking creatively about schedules.  

  • Adjusting building operations to allow for limitations in the movement of students and staff into, out of, and within the building, and for facilitation of enhanced cleaning and sanitation protocols.  

  • Adjusting School busing and school food operations to accommodate health and safety operations.

Ms. Hope and Mrs. Rand will be hosting the final Sip & Chat sessions for this school year. These sessions are being used to remotely replace our traditional Meet the Teacher Night.

Men’s Health Week

Join WorkWell NYC for a week of activities in celebration of Men's Health Week - all designed to help build stronger minds and stronger bodies. Everyone is invited to participate. Learn how you can improve your personal health and help the men in your life live healthier.

Promotional Ceremonies

Kindergarten Step-Up will take place on Tuesday, June 16. Pre K Step-Up will take place on Wednesday, June 17. The Grade 5 Promotional Exercises will take place on Friday, June 19. Details will be provided by your child’s teacher.

NYC will pay youth $1,200 to take online courses this summer

The NeON Summer program will support youth in neighborhoods hit hard by the virus. Apply Here Only certain New Yorkers are eligible. NeON Summer is open to young people ages 14-24 who live in the seven Neighborhood Opportunity Network (NeON) communities of Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brownsville, East New York, Harlem, Jamaica, North Staten Island and the South Bronx. The program helps offset the lack of opportunity available to some young New Yorkers. Applications from those living in NeON communities are due June 15.

Daddy Daughter Dance

SLT/PTA Update

Final Meetings of the 2019-20 School Year

The final meeting of the School Leadership Team (SLT) will be held on Monday, June 15 @ 4:30 pm. The agenda is:

  • Parent and School Response to current events 

  • Professional Development on racial justice education

  • School Re-opening plan in Sept 2020

The final meeting of the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) will take place on Wednesday, June 17 @ 6:00 pm. The agenda for this meeting is:

  1. Introduction of agenda and presenters 

  2. Current events and our responsibilities as parents and educators 

  3. Recognition and accomplishments

  4. PTA governance and initiatives

  5. PTA and DOE budgets 

  6. School reopening – Fall 2020

  7. Summer and on-going communications 

  8. Closing

They will both be conducted virtually. Meeting details will be provided shortly.
